The blog awards gifted between cyber-comrades in bloggery often come with the high price of sharing one’s randomness. So, to supplement the 7 random facts about me listed in my 2010 FaMo Awards come another 10:
1 – My favorite place in London is a cemetery;
2 – I’m a sucker for old film classics (especially Hitchcock). Top 5: Rear Window, 12 Angry Men, It’s a Wonderful Life, Roman Holiday, The Sound of Music;
4 – My biggest peeve is a toss-up between the warm smell of breath, sound of chewing, the popularity of R&B, slow walkers, not having lip balm or a tissue when I need it, and bad advertising;
5 – I have a phobia of getting trapped in bathrooms (particularly water closets). I assess my potential escape routes whenever first stepping into one. This fear may have originated from, oh say, the time I got trapped in a bathroom…;
6 – I prefer dark chocolate to white, as well as red wine to white (poor whites…must be my way of stickin’ it to The Man of the food realm);
7 – I have my CFA (Chartered Financial Analysis designation), which counts for nothing in my professional life anymore, so may as well mention it here;
8 – It’s almost physically impossible for me to dance if I don’t love the music—I might oblige a bride-friend for half a song at her reception, but that’s my limit…and wedding gift;
9 – I have an aversion to bright lights, leftovers, and doing dishes in the sink with a stoppered drain;
10 – I love pandas, though birds are my everyday-variety faves…I could watch them all day. Except for geese. I’m terrified of geese…those hissing, territorial bastards…

11 – I am the youngest of 4 and the proud auntie of 2 nieces and 6 nephews. Being 7 to 10 years younger than my siblings, let’s just say I fought my way into this world as an “unexpected” gift from God.
12 – Though it’s rare in females, I’m color-blind. Well, color “weak” as the eye doctor says every time I fail one of those gol’ damn color tests.
13 – Although I love animals (I am, after all, a monkey), I am not a pet person. At all. But if I had to align myself with either the infamous Dog People or Cat People in a finger-snapping gang face-off of “West Side Story” proportions, I would probably go Cat.
14 – While not advanced and hardly ever getting the chance anymore, I love playing the piano.
15 – The only physical features that I’m genuinely insecure about are my feet.
16 – I suspect that I have an old soul, but cannot determine its age (though, considering my bunions and the flannel granny cap I wear in bed on winter nights—very much to my husband’s chagrin—I estimate it’s at least 80).
17 – My mind is a reservoir of meaningless pop cultural free-association-of-thought. For example, on command, I can sing/hum theme songs to old TV shows (with a concentration in ’80s sitcoms). My college roommates discovered this ability in our dorm cafeteria—nothing stumped me, but after something like 2 hours I stopped in frustration that I could only recall ONE of the themes for “Lost in Space” (the later color episodes had a different song than the earlier B&W seasons, you see, but I’m pleased to announce that I eventually did remember the other one and will sing it at your wedding if you book me far enough in advance).
Maybe someday if I really want to punish you I’ll round it out to 20
