Long Time No Screech!

Howdy, humans! After a hiatus longer than my tail, I’m back up in my tree and writing another book! The first in a potential series, so here’s hoping I can keep at it…poop, throw poop, repeat.

This primate still prefers the paranormal, so the series aims to include ghosties galore–but, as always in my stories, it’s the people and their loves and losses that matter most. (I’d try it with sock monkeys instead of people, but handknit characters tend to unravel before the plot can…ba-dum-bum) This time around, I’m toying with novella length–around 50k words–though shyeah right if I can keep from babbling beyond that. Who would I be if I didn’t make it longer and more complicated than it needs to be? And let me tell you, that’s a huge part of what’s stalled my progress, having begun this story several years ago and shelved it every time I couldn’t make a decision on which way to move it forward: First or third person? Past or present tense? Linear storytelling or a spin on choose-your-own-adventure?? Strictly about a mystery dinner or about a mystery dinner and ghost hunting??!

So, for a long while, I prioritized editing (and tarot) instead, but now I’m back with the determination that got me to start this blog in the first place: “The Monkey said, ‘Enough.’ Why it had fallen from the tree in the first place is irrelevant; it picked itself up and grabbed back on to the vine.”

So there you have it. Just wanted to swing down on my vine and say hellooooo, this is what I go bananas over lately, and I hope all is well in your neck of the jungle, too! 🐒
